The phenomenon of Santa Claus is interesting from a memetic point of view. Santa Claus is this person who I'm told doesn't exist in the normal sense of the word, nor is he from a particular movie, book or story, yet he has enormous influence over people's minds and emotions. Mention Santa Claus to anyone (bar Scroogely misanthropes) and a warmandfuzzy feeling-tone will engulf their consciousness. Like, what's WITH that?!
